We collect personal information because it is necessary for us to have this information to provide legal services to our clients, and to meet our obligations under various legislation including the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering of Terrorism Act 2009.

Who do we collect personal information about?
We collect and hold personal information about most people with whom we have contact in the conduct of our business, including:
clients and potential clients, and the parties they are involved with.
The information we collect may include:
personal details including name, residential and business addresses, date of birth, phone numbers and email addresses, occupation
bank account details
financial information including source of wealth and source of funds
employment and educational background
How we collect personal information
We collect personal information in various ways including:
from the person directly
from other persons (such as other service providers that provide services to the person, eg accountant, doctor, real estate agent, bank, insurer)
employment references
publicly available sources (eg Companies Office)
How we manage personal information
D R Legal complies with our obligations of confidentiality to our clients, and the privacy of individuals.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information held by us from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We have restricted access to computers, and security of our premises.
How we use personal information
We use personal information to:
carry out our business as lawyers
engage other service providers for our own purposes and on behalf of clients
comply with our statutory obligations including anti-money laundering legislation
carry out marketing to clients
Disclosing personal information
We may disclose personal information to:
other services providers that assist us to carry out our business (eg data storage providers, information technology consultants, third party anti-money laundering service providers, barristers)
other services providers, government agencies etc in order to verify the personal information
courts and tribunals
carry out marketing to clients
any other person if authorised by you or required by law
Accessing and correcting personal information
You are entitled to access and correct any personal information that we hold about you (subject to any exceptions in the Privacy Act).

We may charge a fee for access to information. We will inform you of the fee in advance.
Complaints
If you wish to make a complaint about privacy, you should send your written complaint to D R Legal.
We will investigate your complaint and try to respond within 20 working days.
